1946 - Terril Years


Manager

In the summer of 1946, my father took a job as Manager of the Farmer's Co-op Elevator in Terril, Iowa. Terril at that time was 25 miles of gravel roads west of Ringsted. For about a month my father drove Mother's old Chevy back a forth every day. Today we don't think much about a 25-mile commute but in those days it seemed a long way and took him nearly an hour to make the trip.
